Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SHOTON watermark and film simulation app
Is SHOTON really free?
Yes! SHOTON is completely free with no subscriptions, no hidden fees, and no limitations. You can process unlimited photos and use all features including film simulations, watermarks, and adjustments at no cost.
Do you upload my photos to your servers?
No. All image processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript and Canvas API. Your photos never leave your device, never touch our servers, and are completely private. This is our core privacy commitment.
What film presets are available?
SHOTON includes 15+ professional film simulations including Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Portra 800, Fuji 400H, Fuji Pro 400H, Cinestill 800T, Kodak Gold 200, Fuji Superia 400, Ilford HP5, Kodak Tri-X 400, and more. Each preset accurately recreates the color grading, contrast curves, and film grain of classic analog films.
Can I edit EXIF data before adding watermarks?
Yes! SHOTON automatically extracts EXIF metadata from your photos, but you can fully customize it before adding watermarks. Edit camera brand, model, lens information, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings to your preference.
What watermark styles do you support?
SHOTON offers multiple watermark styles: Bottom Border (camera info bar at the bottom), Full Frame (border around entire image), Overlay (overlaid on image), and Blurred Background (with backdrop). The Bottom Border style is most popular for shot on frames.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?
No account needed! SHOTON works instantly in your browser without any signup, registration, or login. Just visit the site, upload your photo, and start editing.
What file formats are supported?
SHOTON supports all common image formats including JPG/JPEG, PNG, and any format your browser can display. Photos are exported as high-quality JPEG files with 90% quality to balance file size and image quality.
Can I use SHOTON on mobile devices?
Absolutely! SHOTON is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. The interface adapts to your screen size for optimal editing on any device.
What image adjustments are available?
SHOTON includes basic adjustments: Exposure (brightness), Contrast (tonal range), Saturation (color intensity), and Temperature (warm/cool color balance). These work in combination with film presets for complete creative control.
Does SHOTON work offline?
The initial page load requires an internet connection, but once loaded, all image processing works offline. Your photos are processed locally in your browser without needing server connectivity.
What resolution are exported images?
Exported images maintain your original photo's full resolution. SHOTON processes previews at optimized dimensions for performance, but downloads are always at full resolution with all edits applied.
Can I remove watermarks after adding them?
Yes! While editing, you can toggle watermarks on/off using the Frame button. However, once you download the final image, the watermark is permanently rendered. Keep your original file if you want versions without watermarks.
How do shot on watermarks work?
Shot on watermarks display your camera information (model, lens, settings) directly on your photos, similar to smartphone watermarks like 'Shot on iPhone'. SHOTON reads this data from your photo's EXIF metadata and renders it beautifully on your image.
Is there a limit to how many photos I can process?
No limits! Process as many photos as you want. Since everything runs in your browser, there are no server costs or processing limits to worry about.
Can I use SHOTON for commercial projects?
Yes! You're free to use SHOTON for personal or commercial projects. The watermarked photos you create are yours to use however you like.
Why doesn't my photo have EXIF data?
Some photos may have stripped EXIF data, especially if downloaded from social media or edited in apps that remove metadata. You can manually enter camera settings using the EXIF editor in SHOTON.
How do I get the best results with film simulations?
For authentic film looks, start with well-exposed photos. Apply film presets first, then fine-tune with adjustments. Different presets work better for different subjects - Portra for portraits, Cinestill for night scenes, Tri-X for high-contrast black and white.
